What is onychomychosis?

Onychomychosis refers to any fungal nail infection.

Who gets fungal nail infections?

Research indicates that the most commonly afflicted people are:

  • Those with history of injury or infection around the nail
  • Diabetics and others with poor circulation to their toes
  • Women with extended use of artificial nails

What is Renewed Nail®?

Renewed Nail® is a solution developed in the U.S. by podiatrist Dr. Tim Nguyen and dermatologist Dr. Paul Rehder. Renewed Nail® is a once a week brush-on topical treatment for onychomychosis. It is an effective, safe, and inexpensive product that beautifies and restores discolored nails damaged from fungus, injury, or artificial nail products.

What ingredients does Renewed Nail® contain?

Renewed Nail® uses a safe and effective chemical compound, 2-ethyl cyanoacrylate (commonly known as "superglue"), that is used as a carrier for the popular antifungal agent, undecylenic acid, to make it much more effective for treating nail fungus. Cyanoacrylate has been safely used in various surgeries for years without any allergic reactions. The third ingredient is a small amount of hydroquinone, a mild bleaching agent that helps clear the discoloration in the fungal nail.

How does Renewed Nail® work?

As the solution is absorbed into the keratin of the nail, it kills fungus on direct contact as undecylenic acid is being released into the nail and under the nail. It also seals off the nail surface, blocking the absorption of air and water which deprives the fungus from its main source of nutrition. The treatment requires weekly debridement of fungal nails and an application of the solution. Initial and monthly debridement by professionals is recommended.

Will Renewed Nail® work on fingernails?

Yes, Dr. Nguyen's formula has been validated through independent research for infected fingernails as well. This research has shown that Renewed Nail® can safely remove damaged material on fingernails in the same manner that Dr. Nguyen has seen on toenails. Complete regrowth of fingernails can take 6 months or longer, so please be patient for the results.

Are there any side-effects from Renewed Nail®?

No, there are absolutely no systemic effects associated with Renewed Nail®.

How long does it take?

Improvement is expected within 2-6 months, but full regrowth of the nail can take over 12 months.

Does Renewed Nail® wash off?

Normal bathing habits do not interfere with the adherence of the topical mixture. Renewed Nail®, for approximately one week.

Can I wear regular nail polish while treating my fungal infection with Renewed Nail®?
